Missions

Serving others is part of what it means to love God with all our heart, soul, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:29-31). There are many ways to volunteer and serve at Grace UMC, in the wider Corpus Christi community, and around the world. To volunteer, learn more about any of these missions, or to initiate a new ministry partnership, contact Pastor Rebekah Rochte to get started.

In the Community

Our mission hearts and mission hands reach around our community and around the world, touching lives for the glory of God. In addition to church-sponsored initiatives, we also partner with community groups to make a world-changing difference!

Grace Community Thrift Shoppe

Our Thrift Shoppe serves the local community by selling discounted lightly used treasures ranging from clothing to household goods to toys. It also supports an in-house food pantry and hosts a monthly Food Bank distribution. Proceeds from the shop support the United Methodist Women’s organization. Donations and volunteers are always welcome! The Thrift Shoppe is located at 4425 Church Street and is open Thursdays through Saturdays from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Wesley Community Center

With branches in Robstown and Corpus Christi, Wesley Community Center has been dedicated to aiding those in need for over 70 years. The centers offer assistance by providing food, children’s day care, clothing, and other types of assistance particularly geared towards homeless and low income families. Grace UMC partners with Wesley Community Center through volunteer work, holiday projects, donation drives, and other needs.

Feed Our Friends

Feed Our Friends is what we call our partnership with an ever-growing group of people from all over Corpus Christi who are dedicated to caring for our homeless and low-income neighbors by providing a home-cooked meal and basic necessities every Sunday afternoon in Artesian Park. We are committed to providing 200 sack lunches and assisting with the book program on the second Sunday of each month.

Blood Drives

We partner with the Coastal Bend Blood Center quarterly to sponsor blood drives on Sunday mornings. The need is constant. The gratification is instant. Give the gift of life!

Rise Against Hunger

Rise Against Hunger is an international non-profit initiative that seeks to empower communities, offer good nutrition, and provide emergency relief to communities all over the world. The goal is to eradicate hunger and food insecurity by 2030! Starting in 2017, we are partnering to host Meal Packaging Events. A group of 50 volunteers can package 10,000 meals in about 2 hours, and these meals will primarily be used for school feeding programs in developing countries.

Grace UMC has served as the “base camp” for many years.

Around The World

Our mission hearts and mission hands reach around our community and around the world, touching lives for the glory of God.

Mission Trips

Grace UMC sponsors regular mission trips to various parts of the Corpus Christi area and the south Texas region to offer help and hope to those in need. Since 2014, Grace UMC has also traveled to Costa Rica to share the love of Christ and offer tangible help to those in need. Most trips involve home repair or renovation as well as opportunities to connect with local families.

Grace is a church that believes in Jesus, a church that loves God and people.

We believe the church is the community of faith where we connect with God and one another.  In this community, we put into action – supporting and caring for one another and our neighbors, growing in our personal relationship with Jesus Christ and leading others to become disciples.
